Are you new to Destiny2 (the game we consider one of the most popular MMOs in the USA)? Then, you’re probably unfamiliar with exotics and their potency in building your character. This article will help you. Read on to learn everything a Destiny 2 player must know about exotics and find the 5 exotics that will enhance your account right now.

What are Destiny 2 Exotic Weapons?

Exotic is a word that stands for a Destiny 2 item rarity. It describes the rarest, unique items. Those can be gear and all sorts of weapons (firearms and melee blades). Exotics are marked with yellow.

Exotics History

Exotics root from original Destiny. Bungie added several of them on the game’s release to allow players to build more unique characters. Exotic weapons stick to that function by now in Destiny 2.

How Do You Get Exotic?

Destiny 2 offers multiple ways to farm exotics – the most obvious one is by killing enemies. Some exotics drop with a low chance from regular monsters. Bungie has taken this concept to the next level and put exotics into raid bosses. Kill them to grab their loot. However, dealing with bosses is much harder, as it requires a skilled team and luck for you to draw a weapon.

You can obtain exotics through quests. For example, there are a ton of weapons to get from Lightfall and Witch Queen expansions (quests you need are available only after you complete DLC main quests).

You also have exotic-selling vendors. One of them is Xur, who spawns in a random location weekly and sells unobtainable weapons for engrams. Another “NPC” from which to purchase exotics is The Monument of Lost Light. It resides in each big city and sells exotics from previous expansions and events for exotic ciphers (manage carefully – they’re very rare).

You can get exotics for PvP activities like Trials of Osiris. By scoring a flawless run (7 - 0), you and your team get into the lighthouse, where a special chest rewards you with multiple exotic weapons.

Want to get exotics without a boring farm? Purchase exotic weapons in Destiny 2 from boosting sites! It guarantees you will receive the desired weapon in the shortest terms and without any effort.

Destiny 2 Exotics You Should Get First

We’ve compiled 5 Destiny 2 exotics, which you must have in your collection. And you know what the best part is? Each of these following weapons is purchased from The Monument of the Lost Light for relatively common Glimmer, Legendary Shards, and Planetary Materials:

Exotic Weapon Description
Sleeper Simulant This fire weapon is easily among top-DPS guns, thanks to its intrinsic trait perk. It enables the weapon’s bullets (or, better call them, lasers) to over-penetrate foes and bounce off the surfaces. This ability helps Simulant to obliterate enemy packs and deal more damage to bosses if you can hit them with your bullets twice.
Izanagi’s Burden It’s a kinetic damage-type sniper rifle with 4 bullets in a mag. You can load them in a single shot (thanks to the perk), which is where all the exotic’s power comes from. How do you use Izanagi? Your task is to input it into your rotation as a heavy-hitting DPS weapon (it synergizes well with debuffing weapons).
Leviathan’s Breath It’s a heavy weapon that deals large chunks of damage with each arrow, stunning enemies. It gives you time to regroup or switch to other weapons. If you want to use Leviathan’s Breath, we recommend you get a catalyst for it, as it solves one of the biggest weapon’s issues: long draw time.
Witherhoard It’s a grenade launcher with sticky bombs. They attach to surfaces (it creates a big ground AoE) or enemies (it deals damage to surrounding foes). A pro tip: combine both attachments. By shooting the ground beneath a boss and the boss himself, you can double your Witherhoard damage.
Dragon’s Breath It’s a rocket launcher that, ironically, deals damage over time instead of putting out a single heavy-hitting shot. What does it do? Dragon’s Breath shots lay huge fire pools that ignite enemies. The more you keep your Dragon’s Breath unused, the more its rockets charge to spread even a bigger fiery pool.

How Should I Use Exotics?

Ideally, you should pair exotics with one another to create combinations. The most classic combo you can think about is a debuff/buff weapon and a gun that can output heavy, consistent damage. For this template, you can take Witherhoard and Izanagi’s Burden. By doing research, you’ll find much more complex exotic combinations (including gear pieces) that will take your battlefield impact to the skies.
